Being StressWise for Teachers
The incidence of stress and “burn out” in the teaching profession is now exceedingly
high and with demands on teachers constantly increasing, there is a real need to support teacher wellbeing.
Every dysfunction in society is evident in our classrooms and teachers are taking on an array of roles to deal with many societal problems.
Some of the stressors teachers experience include: unruly student behavior, lack of student motivation, constant changes in curriculum, constant and long working hours in lesson planning, marking, paperwork, setting assessments and reports, constant time restraints, parental expectations and pressures, inadequate facilities and resources, keeping up with technological development and training, being the teacher, counselor, parent and disciplinarian and maintaining a school and personal life balance.
When stressed or under pressure, teachers feel the impact on their personal and professional lives, health and state of wellness.
Being StressWise for Teachers is a comprehensive health and wellbeing program specifically designed for teachers who would like to better reduce and manage stress and fatigue, learn relaxation skills, improve and deepen breathing, reduce body tension, maintain physical, mental and emotional balance in stressful situations and learn skills to support the speaking voice in the classroom.
By participating in the Being StressWise for Teachers program, teachers will have the opportunity on a personal level to feel lighter, healthier, more balanced and energetic. On a professional level, this will improve teacher teaching and performance and ultimately enhance student learning outcomes.
